DENVER | Your class 5A Region 7 boys racket sports tournament turned out to be decidedly topheavy, so as host Regis Jesuit and Precious Ridge secured each of the 14 that can be bought positions in the state tournament.
Often the Raiders and SaberCats qualified for lots of three singles and four doubles world-class matches when the tournament wrapped off the floor Thursday at Colorado Athletic Club-Monaco and managed to keep the other seven days teams — which included Smoky Hl from Aurora — out of mention.
Coach Laura Jones' Regis Jesuit team won four of the basic steps head-t0-head finals matchups, which got the Raiders 72 points along with the regional championship by four situations over the SaberCats. Rocky Mountain arrived third place with 37 situations.
Regis Jesuit's full team rescue for No . 1 singles golfer Chanon Penvari — who forgotten to FOSSIL iPhone 5 Ridge's Lucas Henderson in the championship match and to Rugged Mountain's Isaac Smith in a play — qualified for the Oct. 9-11 5A state tournament at Throughways Tennis Center in Denver.
Sophomore Erich Nuss won the comarcal championship at No. 3 singles to gain Regis Jesuit, while the No . 3 doubles team of Alec Jotte and Joey Robertson, the Number 3 duo of Truett Davis and Steven Bummer and the Number 4 duo of Luca Abbott and Max Koszowski also put in regional crowns.
The No . uno doubles team of Tommy Koszowski and Patrick Seby also enhanced to state despite a straight set decline in the finals, while No . 3 singles player Trace Collins rebounded from a finals loss to main Smoky Hill's Alex Elkin — who won the third-place contest — in a playback for mention.
Elkin accounted for all nine on this team points for the Buffaloes.
